The Online Application System is intended for use by new prospective students submitting an application to UP for the first time. It is not intended for students presently registered at the University of Pretoria.
To use the Online Application System you will need the following:
- Internet access
- An email address that you can access regularly because as soon as you submit your online application, a student number (EMPLID) will be sent to this email address as confirmation of receipt.
How To Apply For Admission
- Check eligibility requirements: Before applying, make sure you meet the admission requirements of the university and the specific program you are interested in.

- Pay the application fee: Most universities charge a non-refundable application fee, which must be paid before submitting the application.
- Submit your application: After filling out the application form and paying the fee, submit your application and wait for a decision.
- Track your admission status: Keep an eye on your email and the university’s admission portal for updates on your admission status.
- Register for the University: Go to the university’s official website and create an account. This will allow you to access the application forms and track your admission status.
When to start applying for University 2024?
If you’re planning to start university in the fall of 2024, you have to submit your application by April 2023.
What APS score is needed for University of Pretoria?
Preliminary admission is based on the results obtained in the final Grade 11 examination. Yet, the final Grade 12 results will be the determining factor with regard to admission. Candidates with an APS of 28 and higher will be given preference.
How much is up application fee?
When you submit your UPOnline study application, you will need to pay an application fee of R300 (30 US Dollars) for 2024. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.
